Meet Jules

Career Training Specialist

Jules is one of the newest members of the Center for People team and brings a genuine love for people, creativity, and community into everything she does.

With a deep appreciation for the arts (especially theater), Jules is energized by the many individuals who make Lincoln such a vibrant place. She values connection, whether that’s supporting someone through services, collaborating with coworkers, or simply sharing a friendly hello.

Outside of work, she enjoys creative projects and finding fun ways to unwind (lately, it’s been making bread!). She has a great collection of unique glasses frames and loves spending time with her cats, Pants and Poptart.

What’s a fun or interesting fact about you that most people wouldn’t guess?

“I have a nationally recognized award for building puppets! I built 13 puppets for a production of ‘Amelié’ over the course of two months. Intense stuff but gave me a new appreciation for ‘Sesame Street.'”

What’s a book, movie, or song that inspires you and why?

“If I may cheat the question a bit, the play I have been stuck on for a really long time is called ‘The Humans’ by Stephan Karam. It is a very human and raw story about a family just trying their best to live, even when it seems mundane or like nothing ever gets better. The beautiful thing about the story is that there is not a perfect happy ending that makes everything better, but everyone is still okay. A good reminder for some of those harder times!”

If you could instantly master any skill, what would it be and how would you use it?

“I think the power of emotion is pretty cool. I try my best every day to leave a room more joyful than I found it, and it would be neat to have the ability to instantly turn something around for someone else.”

When faced with hard times, what was the best advice you received or the biggest lessons you learned?

“The best advice that I take with me everywhere is this: ‘Your situation right now will not be the situation later. Whether it gets better or worse, something is bound to change. All you can do is aim to get better and face it if it’s worse.’ I think that it is often too easy to feel like life is too cyclical and you cannot break out of it. However, something may be coming down the road that changes everything for you.”
