Meet Cory

Career Training Specialist

Cory is a dedicated Career Training Specialist at Center for People, passionate about helping everyone in our community achieve success.

Having once sought assistance from the Center himself, Cory’s journey has come full circle, as he now empowers others to navigate their own career paths. His personal experience and commitment make him an invaluable part of the team, inspiring those he works with every day.

What’s a fun or interesting fact about you that most people wouldn’t guess?

“I was born in Western Nebraska and my daycare was a tractor or combine.  While my degree is in finance and I have over 25 years in banking, I never lost my passion for driving heavy equipment and always looked for an opportunity to volunteer with my friends and customers working on their working farms.”

What’s a book, movie, or song that inspires you and why?

“David Goggins, You Can’t Hurt Me. It drives my will to be resilient to challenges that life presents.  To complete the difficult tasks first and live in my conscious state of mind every day.”

If you could instantly master any skill, what would it be and how would you use it?

“If I could master any skill, it would be the skill of patience.  My personality is wired, while I have learned to use it to my advantage, there are times in my professional life when having patience would have been valuable.”

When faced with hard times, what was the best advice you received or the biggest lessons you learned?

“All pain, all hard times do come to an end.  One grows more in the valley than on the top of the mountain.  When faced with hopeless situations, which I have, I did not focus on the situation moreover what I needed to do to trudge through it and come out better.  I always try to focus not on what I am but what I can become.”
