Meet Ken

Facilities Specialist

Ken plays a key role in keeping the roof over our heads and ensuring our spaces run smoothly

A thoughtful problem-solver, he approaches his work with care and attention to detail. He is a longtime Lincoln resident who is committed to giving back to the community he calls home. Ken is also a talented trumpet player who enjoys performing R&B and playing in his church band.

What’s a fun or interesting fact about you that most people wouldn’t guess?

“I was born in Davenport, Iowa, as the first-born oldest of 6. I’ve spent a lot of time preaching and playing trumpet. I played in an R&B band in the 60s and 70s, now I play in church with the Union College Band on Tuesdays.”

What’s a book, movie, or song that inspires you and why?

“‘Tequila and the Bee,’ ‘Invisible,’ ‘The Bee Keeper.’ Movies that are inspirational and where the underdog comes out on top because of perseverance and support.”

When faced with hard times, what was the best advice you received or the biggest lessons you learned?

“Divorce was hard. Support from friends and paying a lot. I do give good advice, but I’m cautious. I have a social work degree, but I require too much information. They told me I wouldn’t be good at that (crisis management training). I could make things worse. I hate to make mistakes.”
