Meet Kris

Compliance Manager

Kris is a kind-hearted and passionate advocate for the mission of Center for People.

She loves being able to contribute anywhere she can to support the local community in Lincoln. She cherishes her family, and especially loves playing with her grandkids. A lover of good stories and life’s simple joys, she’s always happy to tell you about the many wonderful and unexpected adventures she’s been on.

What’s a fun or interesting fact about you that most people wouldn’t guess?

“I’m an ordained minister – got to become one and went to Paris to marry an Extreme home makeover show couple from LNK. They asked if I could go there and surprise a couple on a yacht…18 years ago. Got a passport in 2-4 days. Only Hollywood does that sort of magic.”

What’s a book, movie, or song that inspires you and why?

“‘Brown Eye Girl.’ My daughter always used to dance to it; Troy and I danced to it too. Our family thing. My grandaughter.”

If you could instantly master any skill, what would it be and how would you use it?

“Meditation. To really chillax. To calm down, so that I’m not high-strung all the time.”

When faced with hard times, what was the best advice you received or the biggest lessons you learned?

“When I left work with a hysterectomy after trying to get pregnant for 8 years. Got a call if you want to adopt a girl. I try to do it my way, you think there’s a plan, you have one, and there’s a master plan. Went from despair to adopting a newborn and foster parent…. Hang out for the ride. Never give up hope. There’s always something bigger than what we think.”
